Why did we develop CSilk?
CSilk is invented with the intension to preserve the cultural heritage of silk, while reducing the need for virgin silk, protecting silkworms in the process.
By addressing unethical sericulture and child labour, we aspire a more compassionate future. While preventing the incineration of these cherished garments, which otherwise would emit substantial CO2. CSilk is a true circular solution, breathing new life into discarded silk and contributing an alternate eco-conscious reality.
We seek to honor that life by breathing new purpose to post- consumer and discarded silk, preserving its value and ensuring the sacrifice of these silkworms isn’t in vain.

We chose to recycle silk into yarn rather than into finished garments because yarn offers unparalleled versatility and potential for innovation. During the recycling process, the silk fibers are strengthened, ensuring durability without losing their luxurious softness.
As yarn, CSilk can be woven, knitted, or crocheted into a wide range of fabrics, giving designers the freedom to craft new garments, home textiles, or accessories.
By transforming silk into yarn, we ensure that this precious material is not just preserved, but reimagined, allowing it to live on in countless forms, from traditional weaves to modern designs.
CSilk's first blouse
We set out to explore the versatility of CSilk in knitting, crafting a hand flat-knitted saree blouse to test the material’s potential. This garment was meticulously made using 3-ply yarn, allowing us to observe and understand how CSilk performs when knitted, showcasing its possibilities.
CSilk allowed us for more intricate surface developments—like embroidery, embellishment, and texture creation—offering endless possibilities for creative expression.

Waste management
During the mechanical recycling of silk sarees, we encountered a considerable amount of waste after the fiber opening process. The quality of our yarn was closely tied to the quantity of waste generated. Not wanting to compromise on yarn excellence, we got creative and found a new purpose for this waste—transforming it into a solution for our brand's packaging tags and sticker!
